Today's classic trials reflect the style that was prevalent in the 1930s, before the days of Rallying, when works teams from Ford, Austin, Singer, MG and others battled it out for advertising honours over long distances and the steep muddy slopes or rough rocky lanes across the country.

The Torbay Trial has gained popular recognition as a challenging event and has become well established in the Classic Reliability Trials Calendar as qualifying rounds of the Richard Egger Insurance ACTC and ASWMC Championships. The next event will run on Sunday 27th March 2011 and will again include Car and Motorcycle Classes.

The Trial will start and finish at the Exeter Court Hotel, Kennford, immediately off the A38, approximately 1 mile from the end of the M5. This is a route totalling 74 miles and will take competitors to various venues where they will attempt at least 14 Observed Sections and 2 Observed Tests.

There will be a mix of classic hills used in previous Exe Valley and Torbay Trials such as Simms & Tipley, some new sections introduced last year and some additional new Sections for 2011. For further information about Classic Trials, the vehicle classes, advice about vehicle preparation and how to start please visit the ACTC Website - www.actc.org.uk - or contact Keith, our Torbay Motor Club Trials Co-ordinator ().
